I have to admit…I’ve never been a big fan of chia. The texture gets me…I’m just not down with the squishy-ness of chia. BUT…this chocolate chia smoothie has me rethinking chia and I’m pretty sure it’ll do the same for you!

Chocolate Chia Smoothie
Chia can be a good source of protein for those of us looking to diversify our protein sources. It is high in carbs but it’s also high in fiber so the net carbs aren’t too bad. Plus chia is a good source of Omega 3’s and antioxidants and can provide additional calcium, potassium and magnesium that are needed daily. You can see more information on the benefits of chia here.
I like to let my chia seeds soak up the liquid they are in and soften a bit, so I put the 1.5 cups of non-dairy milk with the 2 tablespoons of chia seeds in a bowl for 30 minutes prior to making this smoothie.
I hope you enjoy this Chocolate Chia Smoothie as much as I do! Just a fun variation for breakfast. You could also not put it in the blender and just do a chocolate chia pudding bowl.
